The Agility Experience

Well, it’s certainly already been a big year of firsts for me - my new business, its new Facebook page, Instagram page and website, along with all the firsts that went along with the creation of all of the above.

So in keeping with that theme and for something completely different for me, I had my first information / advertising stand.

I was given the opportunity to attend one of the Dogs NSW Agility competition days and was thrilled that I did.

Talk about hard work….. Not me ….. the dogs and their hooomans

Every one of those dogs had the best time. I've never seen so many happily wagging tails and smiling faces in one place. The noise was definitely something to experience, but good none the less. I had optimum position at the end of the weaving poles on one of the competition fields and got to see (and hear) the excitement of every dog running, jumping and weaving with joy.

My biggest takeaway from the day was the love shared between the dogs and their hooomans. At my vantage point close to the end of the run I got to experience the sheer joy of the dog as they were embraced and applauded by their hooomans at the completion of their run. It didn’t matter to either of them if there were mistakes or time penalties or if some parts were completely missed, or even if they didn’t make it the whole way around because the puppup got completely distracted and wanted to go off field and say hi to another dog, …….

it didn’t matter.

Everyone single one of them  had fun and it was a joy for me to behold.

One of the best experiences for me and I truly hope I get the opportunity again.

Have any of you ever been to an agility trial? Have any of you ever competed?

I’d love to hear about it
