I love me some detail
It’s kind of the whole reason I started drawing in the first place, the closer up the better. I got into macro photography because I loved to capture close up detail. I love to look at things under a microscope and learnt scientific illustration so I could understand how to draw insects in close up detail.
Close up is my Jam
Square Spectrum, to the right was created as a trial piece for my much, much larger Nature’s Colour Spectrum. This piece features colour samples from nature - close up elements of insects, flowers, seeds, birds, frogs and even shells.
Looking at nature in close up opened up my eyes and my mind and really helped me to actually see the amazing wonders of the intricacies of the natural world.
